Current Events and Publications
The Order of Augustinian Recollects has been blessed with some 1250 professed members, together with hundreds of Secular Augustinian Recollects and countless benefactors and friends, not to mention associated federations of religious sisters. Staying in touch is no easy task, especially considering that the Order is living and working in some 19 different countries scattered around the world. On the level of the Order we have a number of official publications, the most important being Acta Ordinis ("The Acts of the Order"), an annual publication containing official communications preserved in magazine form, and Notitiae OAR ("News"), a quarterly publication with more informal articles, containing news items from the general headquarters in Rome as well as from the various provinces (regions). Each of the provinces has its own Bulletin (for official documents and more formal articles) and Newsletter (with news events of local interest); these are published at various times during the course of the year. The Order also has its own scholarly publication for research in Augustinian Studies and related topics known as Augustinus, a biannual publication; and our Historical Institute has its own journal known as Recollectio, published annually. The Secular Augustinan Recollects in our own St. Augustine Province stay in touch through Tolle Lege ("Take Up and Read"), a newsletter published by each local chapter of the fraternity, usually on a monthly basis. Individual communications concerning official pronouncements, developments of common interest, and announcements of upcoming events are sent out of both the General headquarters in Rome and the various Province headquarters. All official communications are supposed to be displayed or circulated so that each of the members of the community has an opportunity to see and discuss them. While Notitiae is published in Spanish and English, most other publications appear in the language of the place where they originate.
