Fr. General leads the community in prayer |
Slide Show
The Tagaste community joined Recollect friars from the Eastern Region as well as the St. Nicholas Delegation at the Provincial Residence on Wednesday, March 11, for the formal opening of the General Visit of Renewal. After a prayer service at which Fr. Javier Guerra, Prior General, offered a number of reflections for the friars to consider, all enjoyed refreshments and a wonderful Italian dinner. After spending Thursday with the community at St. John in the Bronx, Fr. General arrived at Tagaste on Saturday, March 13. Unfortunately, it was a very wet weekend with much storm damage and flooding. The community got word that the Provincial Residence was without power for an indefinite period of time due to fallen tree branches. Fr. General held an opening prayer service in which he began the Tagaste visit. Fr. Charles Huse acted as secretary and interpreter for Fr. General. He invited the individual religious to meet privately with him to express their opinions or suggestions. He also met with the students. There were special dinners on March 13 and 14 giving all the opportunity to socialize with the General. A closing prayer service with Benediction was held on the evening of March 14. After dinner Fr. General met with all the religious for closing reflections. After leaving Tagaste Fr. General proceeded to Union City, NJ, for the visit to the St. Nicholas Delegation. He also took the opportunity to visit with our AR sisters in Irvington and their new house in Belvidere, NJ.
