Fr. James McGuire to Celebrate
60 years of Religious Profession

Fr. James D. McGuire, OAR (l.) with Cardinal Roger Mahony
The Los Angeles Archdiocese celebration
for religious men and women observing significant jubilees of
religious profession took place at 3:30 PM, Sunday, January 28,
2007, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles. 140 religious
are observing jubilees this year, and 70 of them were present
for the celebration.
Among them was Fr. James D. McGuire,
OAR, who this year is marking the 60th anniversary of his first
profession of vows, which took place on September 1, 1947, at
St. Augustine Monastery in Kansas City, Kansas.
Father concelebrated the Jubilee
Mass with Cardinal Roger Mahony and many of his present and past
auxiliary bishops.
After the Eucharist a reception
was held in the Cathedral hall which was attended by many of St.
Benedict’s parishioners. The Cardinal, as always the soul
of graciousness and charm, posed for individual pictures with
the Jubilarians and congratulated Fr. McGuire for his many years
of faithfulness as a religious.
