Feast of the Sacred Heart of Mary

On Saturday June 20th the religious gathered for prayers at 7am, followed by the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Domingos Machado, Secretariat of Spirituality was the main celebrant. During his homily he mentioned how as a young child his parents had engraved in him a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. He asked the capitulars to ask Mary to accompany them in their deliberations as she did the apostles in the upper room.

The first session began at 9:15am with a brief prayer followed by the reading of the minutes. The religious then went to work on their commissions once again to later return to the general session for presentation.

At 11:30am the president of the Provincial Chapter, Prior General, Fr. Javier Guerra, read the results of the votes received from the Province for Prior Provincial. Those who received the most votes were: Frs. Joseph Gallardo, Domingos Machado, Marlon Beof. These three religious comprise the terna and one of them will be elected Prior Provincial at a later time.

The morning session ended at 11:45 and it was agreed that sessions would resume on Monday, June 22nd. After lunch some of the religious returned to their parishes in Santa Ana, Montebello, to help cover assignments over the weekend: confessions, Mass. Others spent the rest of the weekend relaxing, catching up on work, helping with Masses in Mary Star of the Sea, or visiting family and friends.
