The love and devotion to the Servant of God, Bishop Alphonse Gallegos, continues to grow in Southern California. The Knights of Columbus established a new council in St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish, Los Angeles, California, on January 17, 2010, naming it the Bishop Alphonse Gallegos Council. Several of the new council members personally knew Bishop Gallegos and wished to establish a council honoring his memory.
The installation of the new council members began with the Sunday Eucharist at 5pm. The Mass was presided by the Vice Postulator for the Cause of Beatification and Canonizatoin of Bishop Gallegos, Fr. Eliseo González, OAR. Fr. Domingos Machado, OAR, Vicar Provincial of Saint Augustine Province, concelebrated. Present were the Knights of Columbus to be installed along with their families and nephews of Bishop Gallegos, Fernando, Armando, Rey Gallegos and his wife Linda.
After the Holy Eucharist the installation of the new council of Knights of Columbus took place in the parish hall. The naming of the Bishop Alphonse Gallegos Council was honored by having present members of the Gallegos family and dignitaries of the Knights of Columbus. Fr. Ramon Palomera, Pastor of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, was also present for the installation.
